Hello, and welcome to Yamagata.net. I am Jay Yamagata, and this is my family’s web site in the internets. Yamagata.net has been a hobby of mine since the domain name was first registered in 1998. Over its life on the net, it has been hosted at several web hosting providers, and even on my own Windows servers (too much work!). This past April marked 13 years of owning and designing Yamagata.net. I hope you enjoy visiting here, as much as I enjoy coding and maintaining messing with it.
A little about me:
I was born and raised on the island of Oahu, Hawaii. My Great Grandparents migrated from Japan, making me the fourth-generation (Yonsei) in Hawaii. I decided to attend college on the “mainland”, enrolling at Bradley University after graduating from Iolani School in Honolulu. I majored in Electrical Engineering and graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science.
After graduating, I found a job with InstallShield in Schaumburg, IL and relocated to the Chicago area. InstallShield was acquired by Macrovision Corp in 2004, and I was brought on board as a Systems Administrator. In 2008, the software division of Macrovision divested to form Acresso Software, and I transitioned with the newly formed company. In 2009, Acresso Software rebranded to Flexera Software, Inc. My current position is a Senior Systems Engineer responsible for the design of the corporate IT infrastructure. In May of this year, I got remarried to Shama. We currently reside in the western suburbs of Chicago.
