Lastpass

So I’ve been browsing the web using Google’s Chrome browser.  My backup is IE8.  What? No Firefox?  It used to be my default browser, until Chrome came out.  Google’s enhancement to Chrome with extension support only solidified it’s place in my browsing regimen.

Anyway, I digress.  I wanted to share a Chrome extension that I think is worthwhile install.  In fact, this one works on all the browsers I mentioned.  Introducing Lastpass.  It’s a password manager and form-filler that runs as a Chrome extension, and IE plug-in.  Their site links to rave reviews from PC Magazine and ZDNet, just to name a few.  I find the extension useful, secure and unobtrusive.  But what does it do?  It’s a password repository and form-filler.  You can securely enter and save the URL, login credentials to the web sites that you regularly log into.  The next time you visit the site with Lastpass installed, it will prompt you whether you want it to login for you.  It will also watch your logins to sites not in your web site list and prompt to save that information as well.

Hmm.  What if you share a computer?  Don’t fret, they have that covered!.  You have the option of automatically logging off  after a certain time period, even once all browsers are closed.  There’s a lot of features, and I do not intend to go through all of them, but I am a fan.  Visit the Lastpass site for the complete round up.

UPDATE: I no longer use LastPass.  Well, let me clarify that.  I didn’t use LastPass as often as I thought I would.  Still great web app, just not a fit for me.
